The Indian Ports Association (IPA), established in 1966 under the Societies Registration Act, 1960, serves as the apex body of Major Ports of India, which operate under the aegis of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW).
Headquartered in New Delhi, IPA plays a vital role in enhancing operational efficiency and driving digital transformation, cruise shipping, and green initiatives through flagship programmes such as Port Officers Recruitment, the Port Community System, the National Logistics Portal (NLP) – Marine (Sagar Setu), the Enterprise Business System (EBS), the Cruise Bharat Mission, and the Green Tug Transition Programme (GTTP).
It spearheads sustainable and smart port development in alignment with national priorities including Sagarmala, Maritime India Vision (MIV-2030), and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision (MAKV-2047).
