Indian Ports Association

Society for affordable Redressal of Dispute- Ports (SAROD-Ports) is a society duly registered in Delhi on 30-01-2020 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 to provide just, fair and speedy resolution of disputes at an affordable cost through arbitration. It consists of members from Indian Ports Association (IPA) and Indian Private Port Terminal Association (IPPTA).

It was formally launched with the gracious presence of Hon’ble Minister of State for Shipping (IC) on10-09-2020.

The following are the objectives of SAROD-Ports:-

• i. Resolution of disputes at affordablecost;
• ii. Timely resolution of disputes in a just and fair manner;and
• iii. Enhancement of dispute resolution mechanism with association of technical experts asarbitrators

Role of Ports and Concessionaires is vital in development of infrastructure and rapid economic growth of the Country. So, is the role of Arbitrators in SAROD-Ports in accelerating the growth of infrastructure by providing just, fair and speedy mechanism for resolution of dispute through arbitration.

SAROD-Ports has been set up to resolve any dispute or difference whatsoever arising between the parties in the maritime sector in India and of or relating to the infrastructure, interpretation, application, meaning, scope, operation or effect of the contract or the validity or the breach thereof by arbitration in accordance with the Rules of Arbitration of the SAROD-Ports.

The Award made in pursuance thereof shall be final and binding on the parties subject to provisions of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996.

The Arbitrators are empanelled from different fields having experience in legal, administration, engineering, finance and infrastructure, etc.
